This stuff always swings back around, as the enthusiasts monopolize the conversation about a game everyone else left behind ages ago, or people who played it when they were 5 come of the age where they can make "x was my childhood" youtube videos. No matter its initial reception, every single game out there will have someone going "it's good actually". Do one of these for Sonic Adventure or whatever and the comments will be full of people praising it - people who either love to speedrun a few levels in it through whatever glitches they found, or who were 5. This take on RE6 resonates with me at least. You can have a fun evening co-oping with a friend and taking a drink every time something bothersome happens. But that doesn't mean it's good, lol.

Hey, Nerrel, I just wanted to call out your bad attitude in your Metroidvania videos, where you started each video with a completely unnecessary skit about "humanity not working out". did it ever occur to you that one of the reasons depression is so common nowadays is because we are making an environment that is impossible to be happy in? Why do you feel the need to spew random toxic statements in videos where they don't even made sense in context? It is rude to make a video that looks like it has a light-hearted subject matter only to blindside the viewer with toxic remarks, potentially triggering them when they least expect it. I am trying my best to stay away from that poisonous way of thinking but I can't feel safe watching ANYTHING anymore because I keep running into assholes like you who throw random misery around for absolutely no reason! Open world games are overwhelmingly all about walking or getting from one place to another. That's not alluring/entertaining/enjoyable gameplay, it's a waste of time. As soon as I make the connection that walking is a time wasting activity, u can't see open world games the same

To be honest, the complaints about the backtracking make no sense. If you think just a little, you'll notice the game guides you where you need to go. After each power up you get, the closest place where you can use it is where you should go, this game is pretty linear actually, and playing like this I beat the game with around 70% items.

That ending

There are several releases of Aliens on BD. One of them is pretty much perfect, all grain retained... The ending of this video was yrev very good.

Why do we have to or want to remove grain? It's the TEXTURE of films, like the texture a painting.

I think the 4k and Blu-Ray versions should have been film transfers from the theater with some aspect ratio help if needed. I wonder if IR footage could help clean up some of the depth of field stuff. It does make some good photography bad. I prefer film grain honestly. Its so easy to apply a graph after the fact for the color. I wonder why video seems so far off, while a lot of the goals of remasters of audio is to reproduce the recording. Digital masters have had thier moments, but for the most part are accepted since we can go beyond 16b/44.1khz. We have had 32 bit scanners for how long? I cant understand why 4k and 8k is like this.

These remasters are like lazy amateur mspaint effects. Is it too much work for them to be bothered to go through the movie, frame by frame, and clean stuff up by hand? How much would that really cost? I guess it's good I don't buy movies on disc anymore. But I would stop now if I hadn't already.

Hear hear. Reminds me of how tvs today come with a "motion smoothing" "feature" on by default. Essentially they are adding in fake frames between the real frames. But these fake frames make movies look like documentaries. It ruins the art of the visuals for me. Plus, I don't want my fiction movies/tv to look like documentaries. It takes me out of the immersion, believe it or not. Anyone who saw the Hobbit film at release in theaters can likely understand what I'm talking about. If this high frame rate/motion smoothing trend continues to the point where it's not optional then I'm unlikely to watch new movies or buy new tvs. But there is hope. Thankfully most content still seems to be filmed at the frame rate we are used to. And I think all tvs still support the option to turn off the garbage motion smoothing.

If you ever get the chance look up 4K77. Some guys got original theater film reels for star wars original trilogy and scanned them, then manually upscaled to 4k. they are big files(40-70GB per film) but look amazing.

Well, I like it anyways😅 At least they have "better" (smoother) image than the original, and I don't care for details that I can only see if pointed in slow motion, because...I buy them to watch the movie, not to blame the technology used for AI restoration.

In an ideal world, they would just scan three times film to one (to eliminate errors and grain).

It is becoming more and more obvious that AI is exactly what it literally is and nothing more: a predictive algorithm. It has no fact-checking ability, it has no sense of good or bad, and it blindly creates outputs without any ability to verify either its authenticity or quality. Anyone using AI is only doing so to cut corners to pump out products/content as cheaply as possible with absolutely no concern for humans or what humans value. Your clips show just how laughably bad it is--or it would be laughable if it weren't utterly depressing as hell.
